To welcome the New Year of the Dragon 2024, Mr. Truong Ngoc Xuan has prepared 2 pairs of kumquat dragons, with a pair of standing coiled dragons and a pair of "long van thuy" dragons.

Having been involved in the profession of growing ornamental plants for a long time, especially kumquat trees for Tet, Mr. Truong Ngoc Xuan (Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi) has cherished the idea of making dragons from kumquat trees for many years. As the 2024 Lunar New Year approaches, it is also the time for Mr. Xuan to gradually turn this idea into reality.

The dragon-shaped kumquat trees are carefully selected and given special care from the beginning of the Year of the Cat (2023). By mid-2023, the trees will be placed in vases and molded to complete the product.

To welcome the Year of the Dragon 2024, Mr. Truong Ngoc Xuan has prepared 2 pairs of kumquat dragons, with a pair of standing dragons and a pair of "long van thuy" dragons (dragons riding clouds and playing with water).

“According to folk beliefs, dragons appear everywhere, not only on the ground but also in the sky, and are considered a favorable symbol of agriculture, bringing many good things. People born in the year of the dragon are often very energetic and good at leadership. Dragons also symbolize wealth and power, with the power to create storms, so they are considered a symbol of the energy of heaven and earth. Therefore, I really want to create dragons made of kumquat, with the feng shui meaning of bringing luck and fortune on the occasion of the New Year,” said Mr. Truong Ngoc Xuan.

For the pair of standing dragons, Mr. Xuan used 6 kumquat trees to create the shape. As for the pair of dragons and kumquats “long van thuy”, Mr. Xuan used 12 carefully selected kumquat trees. Each of these dragons used 6 trees, planted in 2 large vases that acted as the dragon’s 2 sets of legs.

Talking about the market price of the "unprecedented" bonsai trees he created, Mr. Xuan said he made these two pairs of dragons because of his love and passion for bonsai in general and kumquat trees in particular.

However, when asked if someone wanted to buy it, what price would be reasonable for the effort he has put in to create these two unique dragon pairs, Mr. Xuan revealed: "25 million VND for the pair of coiled dragons and 50 million VND for the pair of "cloud dragon water" would probably be a reasonable price."
