According to the report, on June 30, two girls renting a room in Nghia Do Ward suddenly discovered a hidden camera in an electrical outlet. The camera's direction was towards the restroom area.
After prying open the power outlet, the two girls found that the camera was directly connected to the power source and was still working. The victim said she had been staying in this room for 6 months. The incident was immediately reported to the local police.
Recently, in Yen Nghia ward, Ha Dong district, there was also an incident where a motel owner installed a hidden camera in the bathroom of female guests.
At the police station, Mr. N. (58 years old, landlord) confessed that because he wanted to spy on the bathroom of the tenant, in June 2023 he went online to order 3 sets of cameras to install in the bathrooms of rooms 401, 402 and the 5th floor.
Mr. N. stated that he often watched secretly filmed images of female guests on his phone or saved them on the camera app for later viewing. Mr. N. assured that he would not distribute or share the images and videos with anyone or post them on social media. At the police station, Mr. N. acknowledged his violations.
Based on the documents and evidence collected by the Ha Dong District Police, it was determined that Mr. N.'s actions in the above case did not reach the level of criminal prosecution, but only reached the level of administrative handling for the act of "Illegal collection of personal information of others".
On May 27, the Ha Dong District Police Department sent a document requesting the Chairman of the Ha Dong District People's Committee to issue a decision to fine Mr. N. VND 12.5 million. At the same time, the authorities forced Mr. N. to delete personal information such as videos and images saved on his mobile phone.
