On the afternoon of November 5, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang received Mr. Gao Jifan - founder and Chairman of Trina Solar Group (China).
Founded in 1997, Trina Solar Group is principally engaged in the research, development, manufacturing and sales of solar modules, solar power stations and system products as well as operation and maintenance services.
Trina Solar is ranked among the top 500 manufacturing companies in China and the top 100 companies in the world's solar industry. As of the first half of 2023, Trina Solar has broken 25 solar technology records, and its product shipments have exceeded 150 GW.
Since 2016, Trina Solar has established Trina Solar Vietnam Energy Development Company Limited, headquartered in Yen Binh Industrial Park, Thai Nguyen Province with a total investment of more than 500 million USD. The Group plans to invest in phase 3 production with a total investment of about 420 million USD in Yen Binh Industrial Park, Thai Nguyen Province, where the Group's 2 factories are operating stably.
At the meeting, Mr. Gao Jifan, Chairman of Trina Solar Group, thanked the Government, ministries, branches and Thai Nguyen province for their attention and support for the Group's investment activities in Vietnam. Mr. Gao Jifan highly appreciated the potential, policies and results of renewable energy development in Vietnam, especially in the context of increasing demand for green and environmentally friendly products in Vietnam's import markets.
Speaking at the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang welcomed Trina Solar Group's investment expansion plan in Thai Nguyen province, raising the Group's total investment capital in Vietnam to nearly 900 million USD.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that developing renewable energy is a common trend in the world, including Vietnam, aiming towards the goal of reducing net emissions to zero by 2050; emphasizing that the Vietnamese State is focusing on building and promulgating specific mechanisms and policies to promote the development of renewable energy, including solar energy.
The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the Group create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global supply chain in general and the Group's supply chain in particular; at the same time, focus on reducing product costs, improving the efficiency of solar energy storage devices, and finding solutions to handle environmental pollution of storage devices when they expire.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the key leaders of Thai Nguyen province for always paying attention and accompanying in removing difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the implementation of foreign investment projects, including the project of Trina Solar Group in the province.
