The movieTunnels: Sun in the Darkdirected by Bui Thac Chuyen is a film project celebrating 50 years of peaceful reunification of the country.

Recently, the film revealed the first trailer and poster imbued with the fierce colors of the sweep that the soldiers of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam had to face in the battle to maintain the important position.

In the movie poster, the character Bay Theo (Thai Hoa) holds a rifle, his face sweating in the heat and stuffiness of the narrow tunnel. Part of the Cu Chi tunnel scene is revealed, a three-way intersection of rough earthen tunnels and this intersection is also a feature that created an extremely complex network of tunnels.

Cu Chi Tunnels are considered by many military historians around the world to be a scientific and magnificent military project, which helped a small force in both quantity and equipment to stand firm against a strong opponent. It is hard to imagine that the soldiers and resilient militia used rudimentary tools to build such a dense and complex defense system right underground.

And that's why director Bui Thac Chuyen spent 10 years preparing for the movie.Tunnel, bringing the legendary story of the intelligence and indomitable patriotism of the people of the South at that time to the big screen.

The short trailer introduces viewers to the atmosphere ofTunnel, a complex underground base that was always being brutally raided on the surface. Above the bunker, tanks were rumbling with sniper fire, bombs were flying everywhere, American soldiers were scanning the entire forest to find traces of soldiers and destroy them.

Below ground, the tunnel shook with the sound of bombs exploding, and the falling dirt and sand seemed about to collapse. Although the trailer did not reveal many scenes of daily life and fighting, it clearly depicted life inside the tunnel: suffocating to the extreme, and always dangerous.

But as history has proven, even if bombs are falling and bullets are exploding above, and the air in the basement is so thick that breathing is difficult, as long as in the heart of each soldier there is still a longing for the light of freedom of a free nation in the future, they will still persevere and fight. It is like there is a sun in the darkness that always shines to guide the way.
