Recently, a short video clip of a father talking to his daughter through the camera attracted nearly 1 million views on the social network TikTok.

In front of the camera, the father said to his daughter: "Why didn't you pick up the phone when I called? Kim Anh, today we made a big chicken hotpot. We made a big chicken hotpot, and a lot of vegetables, two baskets of vegetables."

The father's expectant eyes and simple, sincere words moved viewers. The video was posted on TikTok with the caption: "I married someone close to home. Yesterday, my dad called me home for hotpot but it was too cold so I was shy. When I looked at the camera, I saw what he said. The right thing to do is still marry someone close to home."

Just 1 day after being posted, the short clip received more than 55,000 likes and thousands of interested comments.

Many people expressed their emotions at the father's simple yet full affection. Some felt that the daughter was lucky to still have a father to love and be loved by.

However, some people think that the daughter was heartless when she missed her father's call and did not come home when her father earnestly invited her.

“I cried when I watched this video. Just looking at his eyes, I can see how much the father loves his daughter”; “Come back to your father right away. You are lucky to still have your parents and family to come back to”; “The father is so passionate but his daughter doesn’t come back, he is very sad. I feel like his daughter is a bit heartless”… are some of the mixed comments from netizens below the video.

Van Anh's father loves his children and grandchildren very much.

According to research, the person who posted the video is Nguyen Thi Van Anh (nicknamed Kim Anh, born in 1998, from Hai Duong).

Van Anh said the video was taken from a home camera on December 24. She was very surprised when, just 1 day after being posted, the video went viral across all social media platforms.

Van Anh said that two days ago, her father called her home to eat hot pot for dinner. Although her husband lives only 6km away from home, because of the cold weather and her two 20-month-old sons being sick, she had to refuse.

“The next morning, my dad called me again and asked me to come over and pick up the chicken to stew. I was busy with something so I missed his call, then called back. My parents thought I was angry about something so they didn’t come home or answer the phone.

That afternoon, I called my dad through the camera and he happily told me about eating chicken hotpot as shared in the video," Van Anh said.

Hearing her father whisper, Van Anh was moved and choked up. That same night, after asking her mother-in-law to look after the child, she drove home to have dinner with her parents.

In response to some negative comments, Van Anh said, "Hearing what my father said, I felt so touched and moved that I posted it on TikTok as a souvenir. I hope everyone is happy."

Van Anh got married in 2018. Living nearby, she often visits her parents every weekend. Whenever her parents have work, she and her husband always arrange to bring their children back to help take care of things.

“My parents and I see each other all the time. Sometimes, my dad rides his bike to my house to visit his children and grandchildren. My mom and younger brother also often come to my house to play. I often go home to visit my parents,” Van Anh said.

Van Anh's father is Mr. Nguyen Van Toan (born in 1978). He used to be a miner, but after a work accident, his health deteriorated and he became a housewife. Van Anh's mother works at a company. She has a younger brother who is currently in 11th grade.

In Van Anh's eyes, Mr. Toan is a wonderful father, hard-working and loving to his children and grandchildren.

“When he was still working, my father loved to shop for his wife and children and buy household items. He was gentle and always gave us the best things,” Van Anh shared.
