On the afternoon of November 22, the Central Internal Affairs Committee held a working session with press agencies to announce the results of the Standing meeting of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

First time handling the crime of embezzlement of property with the owner of a non-state enterprise

At the announcement, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Dang Van Dung said that the progress of investigation and handling of cases and incidents basically met the requirements of the Steering Committee, in which, some cases exceeded the set plan.

Many new cases and incidents have been prosecuted, investigations have been expanded, and violations have been resolutely and strictly handled, both in the state and non-state sectors, in areas considered secret and closed, and in cases and incidents that have been pending for a long time.

Implement the motto of choosing key cases, handling one case, alerting the whole region and the whole field.

Especially the case that happened at Viet A Company, according to Mr. Dung, is a typical example of violations in the medical field, specialized in depth. Up to now, 33 cases have been prosecuted and investigated, with 133 defendants.

Among them, there are 3 Central Party Committee members who are ministers, former ministers and provincial party secretaries; 1 deputy minister; 1 assistant to the deputy prime minister and many department and bureau level officials, leaders of local medical organizations and facilities.

The FLC case, according to Mr. Dung, is a typical example of violations in the field of stock market manipulation, deep expertise, and closed operations. So far, 1 case has been prosecuted, 21 defendants have been prosecuted, phase 1 investigation has been concluded, and prosecution has been recommended.

Regarding the Tan Hoang Minh case, Mr. Dung said it was a typical example of violations in the field of corporate bonds. So far, the investigation has been concluded and 15 defendants have been indicted for fraud and property appropriation.

Regarding the AIC case, Mr. Dung informed that it is a typical example of violations in bidding and auction. Up to now, 4 cases have been prosecuted, 71 defendants, including 1 former Provincial Party Secretary, 1 former Provincial People's Committee Chairman and many officials under the management of the Provincial Party Committee.

Regarding the case that occurred at Van Thinh Phat Group and SCB Bank, Mr. Dung emphasized that it is a typical example of violations in the banking sector, using banks as a backyard for businesses, in the Van Thinh Phat ecosystem.

To date, 3 cases have been prosecuted, with 108 defendants, including 23 defendants who are department and bureau leaders, officers of inspection, auditing, banking inspection and supervision agencies, and leaders of inspection and banking agencies in some localities.

The vehicle inspection case, Mr. Dung mentioned, is a typical example of systematic violations, petty corruption, and prolonged. 114 cases/808 defendants have been prosecuted in 49 localities.

In particular, Mr. Dung emphasized that for the first time, he had prosecuted, investigated, and prosecuted the crime of embezzlement of property even against the owners of non-state enterprises, specifically the defendant Truong My Lan and her accomplices in the case of Van Thinh Phat and SCB Bank.

At the same time, investigate, prosecute, and try in absentia the fugitive defendant Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan and a number of accomplices in the AIC case. Focus on mobilizing and capturing a number of subjects who have fled abroad...

In addition, according to Mr. Dung, he has focused on inspecting and strictly handling party organizations and party members with signs of violations related to cases and incidents as requested by the Steering Committee and prominent cases with a lot of public opinion...

Since the beginning of the 13th term, 97 officials under the Central Committee's management have been disciplined, including 8 members and former members of the Party Central Committee.

Regarding the upcoming tasks, Mr. Dung emphasized the General Secretary's comments at the meeting, especially the requirement to rectify and clarify violations and responsibilities of organizations and individuals for strict handling.
