Identify and fight against "internal invaders"

Identifying and fighting against all kinds of "internal invaders" is a complex, long-term problem, a fierce and challenging battle.

The collapse of the Soviet Union and the socialist countries in Eastern Europe at the end of the 20th century had many causes, but the most fundamental cause, the root of the collapse of the "big brother" of the socialist bloc, came from within, which was "self-evolution" and "self-transformation". The Party lost its leadership of society, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics disintegrated without having to go through any war with imperialism.

For Vietnam in the period of peace, the most dangerous, most frightening, and most difficult enemy to defeat is not from outside forces. It is also the enemy from within - the hidden enemy, the "internal invaders". These "enemies" are hidden in the ranks of cadres and party members, lurking within each person. If we lose our vigilance or waver, lack determination and perseverance, they will immediately attack. More dangerously, they are very difficult to recognize, because of their unpredictable changes: Individualism, pragmatism and especially turncoatism, opportunism... are camouflaged and disguised under a myriad of different colors and tricks. We need to identify these "internal invaders" as the most dangerous enemies. Therefore, we must identify them correctly to have strategies to deal with, fight and ensure victory against them.

Currently, a large number of cadres and party members, including those holding leadership and management positions, including some senior cadres, have shown signs of degradation in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle with various manifestations such as: negative corruption, embezzlement of State and people's money, weakening the regime, and reducing people's trust in the Party and the State. Manifestations include: indifference, wavering in political ideology, indifference to the fate of the Party and the nation, to the country's difficulties, falling into individualism, selfishness, opportunism, pragmatism, chasing after fame, money, status, and localism; fading revolutionary ideals, lack of faith in Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and skepticism about the path to socialism.

Some cadres and party members, including those who previously held important positions and responsibilities in party and government agencies, after retiring, have had distorted opinions, criticized history without objectivity and comprehensiveness, demanded pluralism and multi-party system, openly attacked and denied the Party's guidelines, policies and laws, collaborated with hostile forces, and betrayed the national interests. Many people, in the name of researchers, scientists, and reformers, made unreasonable demands related to the Constitution, sovereignty, and human rights...

To maintain the Party's leadership over the whole society, we need to continue to promote the fight against "peaceful evolution", especially against "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party. Actively fight against corruption and negativity. Each cadre and Party member must always discipline themselves, "self-examine", "self-correct", uphold the spirit of self-criticism and criticism like washing your face every day. Each Party organization needs to constantly renew itself, self-rectify itself; resolutely eliminate those who have faded ideals, "self-evolved" and "self-transformed" from the ranks.
