According to the Department of Labor Safety (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs), in 2024, Hung King's death anniversary (10th day of the third lunar month) falls on Thursday, April 18.
This is a working day of the week for workers, so the holiday schedule for the death anniversary of the ancestors is only 1 day off, Thursday, April 18.
For Victory Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) this year, the holidays for these two days both fall on Tuesday (April 30) and Wednesday (May 1). These are also working days of the week, so workers who take this holiday will not be compensated for the holidays.
The April 30 and May 1 holidays will last 2 days, from Tuesday, April 30 to Wednesday, May 1.
According to the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to take a day off and receive full pay according to their labor contract on holidays. In case a weekly day off coincides with a holiday, the employee is entitled to take a compensatory day off on the next working day.
Regarding overtime pay, according to Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees who work overtime during the day on holidays are paid at least 300%, not including holiday pay for employees who receive daily wages.
Based on the announcement from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, non-state enterprises can arrange and schedule holidays in accordance with the needs of the enterprise, as well as ensure the rights of employees.
Thus, on the occasion of Hung King's Commemoration Day and April 30 and May 1 this year, there will be no compensatory leave and the leave will be according to the schedule as above. During the holiday, employees will still receive full salary.
In case employees want to take more time off, they can use their annual leave on the days alternating between weekends and holidays to increase their time off to deal with family matters or travel.
