The unique architecture hidden among the tangled vines makes Ba Dong Minor Seminary in Dong Quang Commune, Gia Loc District (Hai Duong) even more mysterious and ancient despite being abandoned for many years.
Ba Dong Minor Seminary after many years of abandonmentA minor seminary is a place where monks are trained (like elementary school) before they go on to major seminary to become priests.Ba Dong Minor Seminary was built in the 19th century along with the seminaries in Ke Sat and Dong Xuyen. The minor seminary has been abandoned since the middle of the last century. According to the Principal of Dong Quang Kindergarten, Tran Thi Bich Xoe, in 2006, the locality repaired part of the minor seminary to make it a place for the school to study. In 2019, the minor seminary was returned to the Hai Phong Bishopric for management. This is also a large minor seminary that still has traces to this day.Due to many years of abandonment, the minor seminary grounds have now seriously degraded. The walls were almost cracked, the roof damaged. The whole house was covered with vines. The wild plants growing on the roof over time had grown long roots.Although seriously degraded, the minor seminary campus still retains the unique U-shaped 2-storey architecture.Inside there are many architectural vestiges typical of Catholic churches.Because of its unique architecture and the desolation caused by many years of neglect, the gloomy campus of Ba Dong Minor Seminary attracts many photographers to come and take photos with a ghostly, mysterious style.VAN TUAN
