This year's National Great Unity Day in Dong Lac village, Hong Duc commune (Ninh Giang) took place in an exciting, practical and meaningful manner.
Double joy
On the morning of November 12, Dong Lac village jubilantly organized the National Great Unity Festival to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2023).
From early morning, the roads in the village were bustling and crowded. Party flags, national flags, banners and slogans were decorated everywhere. Villagers stopped their daily work and happily returned to the cultural house to attend the big festival.
Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, Party Cell Secretary and Head of Dong Lac Village excitedly said: “This year’s festival was fun, but it was even more fun because our village organized a ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate 15 routes to the finish line 2 years early. Before the big festival, we took full advantage of the day and night to complete the final sections of the road. The cadres and people in the village were very excited.”
Last June, the Dong Lac village Party Cell issued a resolution, setting a goal of completing the upgrading and renovation of 15 village and hamlet roads by 2025. Of which, 4 village main roads will be widened to 5-10 m, and hamlet roads to 3.5-5 m. Drainage ditches will be designed on both sides of the roads. The solution is to mobilize people to donate land, demolish auxiliary works and contribute funds. This is a big and difficult task because the villagers mainly do agriculture. Therefore, the fact that all 15 roads were completed after a few months with a cost of more than 5 billion VND, entirely by the people's strength, surprised everyone.
The policy was popular, and everyone agreed to act. The cadres and party members set an example first, and the people followed. Many families were willing to donate dozens of square meters of residential land. Children from far away enthusiastically supported. “Hundreds of elderly people who were not eligible for contributions did not stand aside. They voluntarily used their savings to contribute 2 million VND each to the village. The inauguration of 15 roads on the big festival day was even more meaningful, adding to the increasingly strong spirit of solidarity between cadres and people,” Mr. Pham Quang Tu, Deputy Head of the Elderly Association of Dong Lac village, excitedly said.
This year, Dong Lac village was chosen by Ninh Giang district as the venue for the National Great Unity Day. The festival was held in a more exciting and practical manner on a larger scale than last year. In addition to invited guests and local people, the festival also attracted about 200 children from all over the country to attend.
Since November 11, the villagers have been living in a joyful atmosphere with art festivals, folk dances, volleyball exchanges... This year, the village continues to maintain the organization of solidarity meals to increase solidarity and cohesion in the community.
Take the lead in implementing movements
Attending the National Great Unity Day in Dong Lac village, many delegates were impressed when listening to village officials read reports on the results of implementing patriotic emulation movements and campaigns of officials and people here.
In 2023, the average income per capita of the village is estimated at 69 million VND, an increase of 2 million VND compared to last year. The whole village has 806 households but only 8 households are poor, a decrease of 4 households compared to last year. The spirit of solidarity in the community is promoted, there are no conflicts among the people. Security and order are ensured, the cultural and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved. Dong Lac is the leading village in Hong Duc commune in implementing healthy weddings and funerals. In recent years, over 95% of the people in the village have been cremated when they passed away...
Mr. Bui Duc Diem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hong Duc Commune, said that Dong Lac people are always at the forefront of implementing patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, especially the Campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". Natural conditions are not outstanding compared to neighboring localities, but the people here are always united, advising each other to promote internal strength, cherish every inch of land, exploit strengths to form chili growing areas, aquaculture areas of tens of hectares. Many households in the village open construction services, garment factories..., creating jobs for many workers. Nearly 100 people in the village go to work abroad.
With a prosperous economy, Dong Lac people actively join hands to build their homeland, unite to help those in need with the spirit of "no one is left behind".
