Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that three of the victims killed in the plane crash in the US held Russian passports.
"According to the Russian Embassy, three victims of the plane crash held Russian passports. Information that the fourth person may have a Russian passport is being verified," Tass news agency quoted Ms. Zakharova as saying at a press conference today, January 31.
Also on board the passenger plane that crashed at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington on the evening of January 29 were Russian world figure skating champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, as well as former Soviet figure skater Inna Volyanskaya, who was a coach in the United States, according to Ms. Zakharova.
