The Russian capital was attacked by a record number of Ukrainian drones coinciding with the US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia, a message to the new Secretary General of the OSCE.
On the evening of March 11, RT reported that on the same day, the capital Moscow of the Russian Federation was attacked by Ukraine with a record number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), causing many deaths and injuries.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned an attack on several regions of the country, including the capital Moscow, just ahead of the US-Ukraine talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The attack, which involved an unprecedented number of drones, some of which were believed to be carrying fragmentation munitions to increase casualties, left three civilians dead and several others injured in the Moscow region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 337 Ukrainian drones were neutralized during the attack, including 91 near Moscow and 126 over the Kursk region.
In a statement issued on March 11, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the attack was premeditated and deliberately timed to coincide with diplomatic talks in Saudi Arabia, as well as the visit of the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to Moscow.
RT quoted the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasizing: “There is no doubt that this drone attack was planned in advance and was calculated to coincide with the US-Ukraine contacts on resolving the (Russia-Ukraine) conflict taking place today in Saudi Arabia. This is also a message to the new Secretary General of the OSCE, Feridun Sinirlioglu.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine, which is suffering daily defeats on the battlefield, of trying to demonstrate its ability to negotiate “from a position of strength.”
After talks in Saudi Arabia, Kiev agreed to a US proposal for an “immediate 30-day ceasefire”, while Washington lifted restrictions on military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
The Russian Federation has yet to make an official response to this development in Jeddah.
Meanwhile, also on March 11, US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he would likely have a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin this week, expressing hope that Moscow would agree to a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.
As for the Russian Federation, Moscow has repeatedly stated that any temporary ceasefire is unacceptable, as it will only create conditions for Kiev to reorganize and rearm.
The Russian Federation firmly demands a lasting, legally binding solution that addresses the root causes of the conflict.
In January 2025, President Putin announced that the Russian Federation is seeking a long-term peace based on respect and ensuring the legitimate interests of all people living in the region.
