The Haval Jolion SUV is about to enter the Vietnamese market with a hybrid version, competing directly with the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Recently, the official website of the Haval brand in Vietnam announced that it is accepting deposits for the hybrid version of the Haval Jolion imported from Thailand. Notably, sales consultants previously revealed that this model will be launched in April with an expected price of less than 700 million VND.
Compared to the two hybrid competitors in the same B-size (including B+), Toyota Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross, Haval Jolion has the lowest starting price. Accordingly, the two SUVs from Japan are priced at 765 and 905 million VND respectively for the hybrid version.
According to Haval's announcement, the Jolion version imported to Vietnam has a capacity of 190 horsepower and a torque of 375 Nm. The company affirms that this model has the best performance in the small-sized high-chassis vehicle segment (SUV class B and below).
These are the same specifications as the version currently sold in Thailand. Accordingly, the car has a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, along with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The fuel consumption of the Haval Jolion is about 4.2 liters / 100 km, between the 3.9-4.3 liters / 100 km of the Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross.
According to Haval Vietnam, Jolion will be available in two versions: Pro and Ultra. In terms of appearance, both versions have a rounded overall design with automatic LED headlights. The high-end Ultra version has a falling star grille with LED headlights designed to extend down to the front bumper and larger 18-inch wheels (the Pro version uses 17-inch wheels).
The Haval Jolion has overall dimensions of 4,472 x 1,841 x 1,626 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. These parameters are slightly larger than the Yaris Cross and help the Jolion sit on the same "tray" as the Corolla Cross.
The interior of the Haval Jolion is designed with a minimalist cabin like its elder brother, the H6 HEV. In particular, the equipment on the Ultra version in Thailand has been revealed to include a 7-inch information screen behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.3-inch central entertainment screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, 2-zone independent air conditioning with rear vents, a 6-speaker sound system, a rotary gear lever, an electronic parking brake, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof.
Another notable point on the Haval Jolion is that the car possesses many advanced ADAS safety features. Including emergency communication system, pre-collision warning, anti-drowsiness warning, tire pressure warning, hill descent assist, automatic emergency braking, electronic balance, traction control, hill start assist, electronic handbrake with Auto Hold and 6 airbags.
With a price of under 700 million VND for the hybrid version, Haval Jolion will breathe new life into the green car market as well as the B-size SUV segment in Vietnam in the near future.
