Hybrid fragrant rice 6 VietGAP in Nam Sach gives higher profit than control variety

This crop season, the People's Committee of Nam Sach district has directed 5 communes in Zone 1 including Hop Tien, Quoc Tuan, Thanh Quang, Nam Tan and Nam Hung to contract with the Central Pest and Animal Control Company Limited to implement a concentrated rat catching model on the entire agricultural land area of ​​the communes.

Since June 2023, the above company has used rat bait according to the growth stages of rice and the characteristics of rats. As a result, the overall rat control model reached over 99%, with only nearly 3.95 hectares damaged by rats.

Through evaluation, the rat control model above saves more costs than using plastic fences and other rat killing methods, is more effective in killing rats, and brings greater economic benefits. People in communes of zone 1 are very excited and want to continue maintaining the model in the following seasons.

This crop, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nam Sach district has coordinated with the Institute of Crop Research and Development (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) to build 2 areas of fragrant hybrid rice 6 grown according to VietGAP with a total area of ​​45 hectares in 2 communes of Quoc Tuan and Hop Tien.

Evaluation results show that the aromatic hybrid rice variety 6 has good lodging resistance, leaf rollers and stem borers cause light damage, white-backed planthoppers appear but are not affected by the transmission of black-striped dwarf disease, short growth period suitable for the crop, yield from 63 - 65.8 quintals/ha. In addition, production costs and pesticide spraying are low and profits are higher than the control variety TBR 225.
