Fraudulently contributing capital to an energy drink business, appropriating more than 1.3 billion VND from a person in Kinh Mon

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Hai Duong province, due to needing money to pay debts and personal expenses, from August 9, 2021 to January 13, 2022, Hung gave false information to Mr. LVB in An Phu ward (Kinh Mon) about needing money to do energy drink business, inviting Mr. B. to contribute capital. Mr. B. trusted him and transferred more than 1.3 billion VND to Hung. After receiving Mr. B.'s money, Hung appropriated the above amount to pay debts and personal expenses.

During that time, Hung also received more than 6.4 billion VND from Mr. B. to contribute capital to a joint business but suffered losses, so Hung gave Mr. B. a land use rights certificate in Nhan Chinh ward, Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi) that Hung had hired someone else to forge before to serve as collateral and delay Mr. B's debt repayment.

The jury sentenced Vu Ba Hung to 13 years in prison for fraud and appropriation of property, and 6 months in prison for using fake documents of agencies and organizations. The total sentence is 13 years and 6 months in prison.
