A large forest area on Lan Khoang mountain in Lang Son is on fire, the complex terrain makes firefighting difficult.
On the evening of January 16, Ms. Duong Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Huu Lung district, Lang Son province, said that the forest fire broke out at around 6:00 p.m. the same day at Lan Khoang mountain, Lang Ben village, Huu Lien commune.
Accordingly, at the above time, people saw a fire breaking out in lots 1 and 2 of plot 5, Lan Khoang mountain and immediately reported it to the local authorities.
Upon receiving the news, the People's Committee of Huu Lien commune mobilized many security forces, forest rangers, the Forest Management Board and fire prevention and fighting forces to put out the fire.
Due to the rugged mountainous terrain, the mountain is covered with ironwood trees and dry vegetation, making it very difficult to access the scene.
By 11pm, the fire was basically under control. Currently, authorities are calculating the area of burned forest and the cause.
