On June 15, a major explosion occurred at a gas storage facility in Russia, with local leaders blaming the cause on unusually high temperatures.
The incident occurred in Saratov City. RT (Russia) reported that the explosion caused a fire at the scene.
There are suspicions that this was an attack by Ukrainian armed forces on Russian energy facilities.
However, Saratov Mayor Roman Busargin posted on his personal telegram account that the cause of the explosion and fire, especially on the gas pipeline, was the unusually high temperatures that have burned the area recently.
Due to the high temperature, a section of the gas pipeline lost pressure and exploded. The highway was immediately blocked and rescue forces were present at the scene of the incident.
According to Mr. Busargin, the fire has been contained. The remaining gas in the pipeline has burned out, after which the combustion process will stop completely.
Meanwhile, local media reported that some homes near the incident lost power. It is possible that the explosion damaged high-voltage power lines running next to gas pipelines.
