The lion dance festival to celebrate the Party and the Year of the Snake in Thu Dau Mot City gathered more than 108 lion dance troupes from all over the provinces and cities, officially entering the Vietnam Record Book.
On February 9, the Lion and Dragon Dance Performance Program to celebrate the Party and the Year of the Snake 2025 in Thu Dau Mot City (Binh Duong) was officially entered into the Vietnam Record Book with the largest number of lion and dragon dance troupes participating in a performance at one location.
The event gathered more than 108 lion dance troupes from all over the provinces and cities, creating a grand performance imbued with national cultural identity.
This year's lion dance festival takes place to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025) and respond to the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho."
The event is not only a gathering place for excellent art troupes but also an opportunity for artisans to exchange, learn, and contribute to the preservation and development of lion and dragon art - a symbol of strength, luck and national martial spirit. The event attracts thousands of people to participate and visit.
Impressive performances such as "Lân lên mai hoa thung," "Trong tranh," "Dragon dance," "Lion dance" and "Lion dance dia buu" brought the audience moments of satisfaction, demonstrating the skill and solidarity of the art troupes.
After a rigorous assessment process, the Vietnam Record Organization (VietKings) has officially recognized the record for the "Lion and dragon dance performance program to celebrate the Party and the New Year of the Snake in Thu Dau Mot City in 2025" as the event with the largest number of lion and dragon dance troupes participating in the performance at one location.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Director of the Center for Culture - Sports Information of Thu Dau Mot City, Head of the program's Organizing Committee, said that next year this event is expected to take place on Bach Dang Street and Nguyen Tri Phuong Street because those streets are long, have many people around, and are also the center of Thu Dau Mot City. In addition, the event will also increase in scale and have more propaganda work.
Previously, from February 4-9 (the 7th-12th of the first lunar month), the Lion Dance Festival was not only limited to the Binh Duong Provincial Cultural Center but also spread to many prominent locations such as the Provincial Administrative Center, Bach Dang walking street (Thu Dau Mot City) and 30/4 Square (Ben Cat City).
The event left a deep impression on the hearts of people and tourists, contributing to enriching the spiritual and cultural life during the Lunar New Year 2025.
