Atletico were full of confidence as they travelled to Las Palmas, a team they had won all three of their last matches against, scoring 13 goals and conceding just one. However, this time, things did not go as Atletico had hoped.

Las Palmas had an extremely brilliant and explosive match day despite the away team still being in control of the game and somewhat more dominant.
