Wifi systems installed in cultural houses, halls, and public places in some villages and residential areas have contributed to improving the quality of cultural and spiritual life of the people.
Doan Thuong Commune (Gia Loc) has 6 cultural houses, all of which are equipped with wifi and do not have passwords set so that people in need can use it for free. Implementing the program of building advanced new rural areas, meeting the requirements of organizing meetings, the People's Committee of Doan Thuong Commune has invested tens of millions of VND to install wifi in the cultural houses. After installation, the wifi system is assigned to the villages for management and use.
Recently, many localities in the province have installed wifi systems and provided free wifi at many cultural houses, meeting halls, historical sites, etc. In order to welcome the Congress of Farmers' Associations at all levels for the 2023-2028 term, the Thanh Mien District Farmers' Association has launched a movement for each grassroots association to carry out a project, a part of work, contributing to changing the face of the countryside and improving the quality of life of its members. The Farmers' Association of Thanh Mien town, Pham Kha and Ngo Quyen communes installed wifi at 17 village cultural houses and residential areas with a total cost of 35 million VND. Mr. Vu The Sang, Chairman of the Thanh Mien District Farmers' Association, said: "The amount of money spent is not large but has brought practical benefits in organizing meetings and cultural activities at the grassroots level. People benefit from this installation when they come here to access and receive information for free".
Responding to the movement to build a model new rural area, including smart villages, in early 2023, cultural houses and relic sites in Ngoc Lam village, Tan Ky commune (Tu Ky) all installed wifi. Mr. Pham Quang Hop, Secretary and Head of Ngoc Lam village, said that since the installation of the wifi system, activities taking place at the cultural house have been more exciting and easier than before. After having wifi, villagers supported the cost of buying electronic LED boards to serve common activities in the locality such as studying resolutions, thematic meetings, training sessions, etc. Sisters practicing singing and folk dancing can also use the internet to listen to music and learn dance lessons on social networks.
“Since wifi has been available, meetings have been held at the Ngoc Lam village cultural house more often, including training sessions from the commune that are also brought to Ngoc Lam to be held. Thanks to wifi, we use the connection to turn on the street lights on time without having to go to each point to turn them on like before. In the near future, we will install additional surveillance camera systems and smart loudspeakers for the village,” Mr. Pham Quang Hop excitedly said.
Having free wifi at the village cultural houses has attracted many people to this area for entertainment. Ms. Pham Thi Huong in Thung Do village, Doan Thuong commune (Gia Loc) shared: “In the evening, I often go to the stadium area, near the cultural house to relax. If I don’t watch the children play soccer or exercise, I sit and watch the internet thanks to the free wifi from the cultural house. I find the network quite good, fast access, without interruption.”
Ms. Mai Thi Lan, Secretary and Head of Thung Do Village, said that many villagers were excited to have access to free wifi. Since then, more people have come to the cultural house than before. In the summer, more people come to the cultural house to exercise, play sports, sit and enjoy the fresh air, and access the internet for free.
