Establish 5 interdisciplinary teams to inspect food safety in 10 key provinces and cities

This is one of the important activities of the "Food Safety Action Month" in 2024 with the theme "Continuing to ensure food security and safety in the new situation". The implementation period is from April 15 to May 15, 2024 nationwide.

Accordingly, Team No. 1 will be chaired by the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health), in coordination with the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention Police (Ministry of Public Security), the General Department of Market Management (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Department of Product and Goods Quality Management (Ministry of Science and Technology), and the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang to conduct inspections in two provinces: Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen.

Team No. 2, chaired by the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in coordination with the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention Police (Ministry of Public Security), the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade), and the testing unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, conducted inspections in two provinces: Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa.

Team No. 3, chaired by the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), the Department of Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), and the testing unit under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, conducted inspections in two provinces and cities: Hai Phong and Hung Yen.

Team No. 4, chaired by the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in coordination with the Directorate of Fisheries (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), and the testing unit of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, conducted inspections in the two provinces of Cao Bang and Lang Son.

Delegation No. 5, chaired by the General Department of Market Management (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in coordination with the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the Department of Product and Goods Quality Management (Ministry of Science and Technology), the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), and the testing unit under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, conducted inspections in two provinces: Hoa Binh and Son La.

The delegations will inspect the implementation of the Central Government's direction on food safety assurance by local interdisciplinary food safety steering committees, the responsibility of local authorities in ensuring food safety in their management areas; and conduct on-site inspections at food production, trading, and advertising establishments.

In addition to the 5 Central interdisciplinary delegations, the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Industry and Trade assigned functional units to conduct surprise inspections in provinces and cities to effectively implement the Action Month.

In localities, based on the Action Month Implementation Plan 2024 of the Central Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety and guiding documents of the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries and branches; Provincial and municipal People's Committees, Provincial and municipal Inter-sectoral Steering Committees on Food Safety direct relevant functional agencies to develop Action Month plans in accordance with local food safety requirements and situations.

Provinces and cities carry out inspection and examination of the Action Month at the local level and implement it from the provincial level to districts, towns, wards and communes; prepare local reports for the Central interdisciplinary inspection teams; organize inspection and examination teams according to the established Plan.
