The Hai Duong community in Japan has exchanged information through Facebook groups to support each other when needed.
According to representatives of some Hai Duong enterprises with workers and trainees working and studying in Japan, by 3:00 p.m. on January 2, a number of workers and trainees in Ishikawa province and neighboring areas had been evacuated and ensured their safety. The number of Hai Duong workers in this area is very small, so they have basically contacted the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan to receive support.
Hai Duong workers mainly work in Kanagawa, Tochigi, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Gumma, Shiga provinces, and Tokyo, Japan. These places attract more than 50% of Vietnamese workers, mainly in industrial enterprises, including many Hai Duong workers. Currently, this area is safe and unaffected by the earthquake on the afternoon of January 1. The Hai Duong community in Japan regularly exchanges information to support each other through Facebook groups.
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2023, Hai Duong will have nearly 6,000 people going to Japan to work under contracts. This is also the leading market attracting Hai Duong workers to work in recent years.
On the afternoon of January 1, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Ishikawa province (Japan).
