A bronze statue of the late musician Trinh Cong Son was placed in the park named after him on the banks of the Perfume River on the afternoon of February 28.
To celebrate the 85th anniversary of musician Trinh Cong Son's birth, Hue City authorities held a ceremony to inaugurate a statue at Trinh Cong Son Park in Gia Hoi Ward. Hundreds of people who love Trinh's music and admire the late musician attended the ceremony.
The statue of the late musician Trinh Cong Son sitting and holding a guitar is made of bronze, weighs 500 kg, is 1.7 m high, 1.6 m wide, and 2.3 m long, and was made by the late sculptor Truong Dinh Que. The statue is placed in the middle of a 6.2 hectare park, facing the Huong River. The pedestal was designed by architect Ho Viet Vinh.
Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, said that the government has made efforts to renovate the park to enhance the general landscape of Hue city and the space of the Perfume River bank, images that are indispensable in Trinh's music. The place where the statue is located will be a stop for those who admire the late musician's talent to learn more about his life, career, and the place where he composed his first songs.
After the statue's inauguration ceremony, a music program in memory of the late musician Trinh Cong Son was also held with the participation of singers such as Duc Tuan, Trinh Vinh Trinh...
Musician Trinh Cong Son was born in Thua Thien Hue in 1939 and died on April 1, 2001. He left behind more than 600 songs, of which 236 were popular. His works are loved by many generations because they are imbued with humanistic philosophy, expressing great love for people, homeland and country.
