On April 28, the People's Committee of Hung Long commune, Ninh Giang district (Hai Duong) held the opening ceremony of the 2024 Trong Pagoda Traditional Festival to celebrate the 883rd anniversary of Zen Master Nguyen Minh Khong's death.

The East-West exit ritual is considered the most important ritual in the Trong Pagoda festival, attracting thousands of people and tourists from all over the world to participate.
The procession includes 31 groups carrying the palanquin of Duc Thanh and the palanquin of the village's tutelary god from 5 villages in the commune. The group is carried out of the East gate of the pagoda's three-entrance gate, goes around the village, passes through the Duc Thanh Hoa area and then returns to the West gate of the pagoda. Currently, the three-entrance gate of Trong pagoda is still a highlight, attracting visitors.

The traditional festival of Trong Pagoda in 2024 will take place from April 23 to May 8 (ie March 15 to April 1 of the lunar calendar) with many different ceremonies such as water procession, East-West export and the Saint's ascension to heaven ceremony. In addition, the Organizing Committee also organizes many folk games such as: blindfolded duck catching, loach catching in a jar, tug of war, football... creating an atmosphere of community solidarity, together building a cultural life in the locality.

Trong Pagoda, also known as Hung Long Thien Tu, was built during the Ly Dynasty. It is a Buddhist relic with unique architectural art and was ranked as a national monument in 2003. In addition to worshiping Buddha, the pagoda worships three famous Zen masters: Nguyen Minh Khong, Giac Hai, and Tu Dao Hanh. Zen master Nguyen Minh Khong cured King Ly Than Tong and was conferred the title of Nam Thien Thanh To - Ly Dynasty National Master by the king. He was also the founder of the Vietnamese bronze casting profession, creating the four great treasures of An Nam. He traveled everywhere to spread Buddhism and built many famous pagodas such as Keo Pagoda, Co Le Pagoda, Bai Dinh Co Tu Pagoda, Lang Pagoda, etc. At the end of his life, he returned to Trong Pagoda to practice and treat people. Due to his great contributions to the country and Buddhism, after Minh Khong Zen master passed away, the royal court issued an edict to build a temple called Trong Pagoda today.
