This winter crop, Hai Duong has 18 vegetable growing areas that have achieved VietGAP certification. These are all key crops in the winter crop and have high economic value.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Rural Development, in the 2023-2024 winter crop, the province has 18 vegetable growing areas with VietGAP certification, covering an area of 275 hectares in 7 districts and cities. Of which, Cam Giang district has 5 growing areas with an area of 70 hectares, the largest in the province; followed by Gia Loc district with an area of 60 hectares. Other districts have areas ranging from 30 to 50 hectares.
Large-scale vegetable production areas with many high-value crops such as carrots, jicama, kohlrabi, cabbage, onions, etc. VietGAP certificates are valid for 2 years. Production areas previously recognized as VietGAP have expired. Vegetables are produced according to strict processes, using only fertilizers and pesticides according to the instructions of the agricultural sector, and complying with the quarantine period before harvesting vegetables.
In these areas, linkage and consumption chains are formed between farmers and cooperatives and enterprises to consume products right from the beginning of the season. Cooperatives and enterprises provide consulting support on seeds, techniques, materials, fertilizers, etc. Products are purchased by units for export or consumed in the domestic market at stable prices.
