Hanoi requires wearing masks in crowded places

Hanoi authorities require people using public transport and people working at supermarkets, cinemas, bars and nightclubs to wear masks.

In the context of the rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the area, on the evening of April 18, the Hanoi People's Committee requested its affiliated units to strictly implement the wearing of masks according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health dated September 6, 2022. Specifically, on public transport, passengers, drivers, and service staff must wear masks.

At shopping malls, supermarkets, and wholesale markets, the mandatory mask-wearing regulation applies to service staff, managers, and workers who have direct contact with customers.

In some closed spaces such as bars, dance clubs, karaoke, massage and beauty salons, gyms, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, circuses, stadiums, service staff, vendors, managers, and workers are required to wear masks.

At cultural and tourist facilities, crowded event venues, service staff, managers and attendees must also wear masks.

The city requires agencies not to lose vigilance, grasp the epidemic situation to have timely plans; promote vaccination, increase vaccine coverage rate; strengthen inspection and prevention of Covid-19 epidemic for business establishments, event organizations and services.

The Hanoi Department of Health is assigned to strengthen epidemic prevention and control measures at schools, border gates, and medical facilities; assess the epidemic level according to Resolution No. 128 of the Government on "Safe, flexible adaptation, effective control of Covid-19 epidemic", temporary guidance of the Ministry of Health.

The Department of Health also reviewed and updated the plan for admission and treatment of Covid-19 patients according to the 4-on-site principle; assigned the number of beds; human resources to monitor treatment; and prepared plans for admission and treatment of patients.

In the past 5 days, Hanoi has recorded the highest number of infections in the country, an average of 96 cases/day, of which 30-50 cases were hospitalized, mainly the elderly and those with underlying diseases. In total, 566 Covid patients are being treated, of which 299 are asymptomatic and mild cases being monitored at home, 237 have moderate symptoms, 27 are severe cases requiring oxygen through goggles or masks, and 2 patients are on ventilators.
