According to a representative of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the first 8 months of 2023, international visitors to Hanoi are estimated to reach 2.79 million, an increase of 4.6 times over the same period in 2022.
In August 2023, Hanoi is estimated to welcome 2.18 million visitors, an increase of 23.1% over the same period in 2022; of which, international visitors are estimated at 382.9 thousand, an increase of 21.5% over the same period in 2022.
It is expected that in the first 8 months of 2023, the total number of visitors to Hanoi will reach 16.9 million, an increase of 36.2% over the same period in 2022. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 2.79 million, an increase of 4.6 times over the same period in 2022; domestic visitors are estimated at 14.1 million, an increase of 19.5% over the same period in 2022. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 61.6 trillion VND, an increase of 63.1% over the same period last year.
As of August 2023, Hanoi has 3,756 tourist accommodation establishments, with 70,218 rooms; of which 603 hotels have been rated from 1 to 5 stars with 25,550 rooms, accounting for 16.1% of the total number of tourist accommodation establishments and 36.3% of the total number of rooms. The average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector in August 2023 is estimated at 57%, up 16.2% over the same period. It is expected that in the first 8 months of 2023, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector is estimated at 61.4%, up 28.5% over the same period.
In the last months of the year, the Hanoi Department of Tourism directs and encourages travel businesses, destinations, and tourism service establishments to build attractive and unique tourism products focusing on the city's strengths such as: Cultural tourism, experiential tourism, sports tourism, MICE tourism, golf tourism, agricultural and rural tourism; Organize survey programs for travel businesses in Hanoi and localities such as: Northwestern provinces, Red River Delta...; organize Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2023 (September 2023), Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2023 (October 2023) and a series of activities specializing in sports tourism products, Hanoi entertainment and Hanoi eco-tourism.
