Introducing the Kite Festival, setting the Guinness record for the largest kite in Vietnam

With the theme of Winging Dreams, the Kite Festival is one of the activities in response to the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". This is one of the first large-scale kite events held in Binh Thuan. The event takes place from October 22 to 29 at Trinh Nu hill, Hong Lam village, Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district and the Hoa Thang - Hoa Phu route through the two districts of Bac Binh and Tuy Phong.

According to the Organizing Committee, on the opening day of the festival, 10 professional kite teams will fly 1,000 kites (including 300 kites larger than 5m); the number of large kites will be flown in rotation throughout the festival. The giant kite expected to set a Guinness record has dimensions: Width 23m - length 38m (including tail with a total size of about 800m2). The special feature of the giant kite is that it does not use a frame to shape it but will be an aerodynamic kite, promising to bring surprises to viewers. The event combines a parade and displays about 60 supercars (cars) from many different brands; at the same time, combining the cuisine and traditional culture of Binh Thuan.

This is an activity to create a playground for kite flying lovers, bringing this type of activity closer to the people and tourists, especially children. The event conveys the message that along with tourism development, people and tourists should join hands to protect the environment. A special point is that the event is organized entirely from socialization. The organizing units do not make a profit from this event.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan, said that the kite festival is the first sport organized on a large scale in the province. If successfully organized, this type of sport will create a new sport and tourism product in Binh Thuan. The event will be a stepping stone towards the establishment of the Kite Federation in Binh Thuan, thereby promoting the development of the kite flying movement. The Kite Festival is expected to attract about 3,000 people to participate in the experience.

At the event, the Organizing Committee presented 500 gifts to students in difficult circumstances. The kite festival was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan in coordination with a number of organizations.

With many continuous activities, Binh Thuan tourism industry has made a strong breakthrough and exceeded the target of attracting tourists with 3 months left until the end of 2023.

In the first 9 months of 2023, the whole province welcomed more than 6.9 million visitors, reaching approximately 104% of the 2023 plan. Of which, there were more than 200,000 international visitors, an increase of nearly 4 times over the same period last year. Revenue from tourism activities in the province reached more than 17,675 billion VND, nearly double that of the same period last year and reaching 107.13% of the plan.
