Professor Tran Xuan Bach received the 2025 Global Healthcare Innovation Leadership Award

Professor Tran Xuan Bach, lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has just received the 2025 Global Healthcare Innovation Leadership Award.

This award was presented by the Association to Professor Tran Xuan Bach in recognition of his important contributions in the field of health innovation, including research on health economics.

The award was presented at the 16th Annual Conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) held from February 20-23 in Atlanta, USA.

The award honors scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the development and implementation of innovations that have a positive impact on public health, especially in low-income countries.

In 2025, the Association presented this award to Professor Tran Xuan Bach in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of health innovation, including research on health economics, health systems, and digital health technologies to improve access to health care for vulnerable groups. He is also a pioneer in integrating cost-effective health models to optimize health systems, improve capacity to respond to global health challenges, and prevent pandemics in developing countries.

Professor Tran Xuan Bach receiving this award affirms the position of Vietnamese scientists in the international arena. Previously, Professor Bach was also awarded the 2023 Outstanding Research Award by ISPOR, the world's largest association for health economic evaluation.

Over the years, the CUGH Global Health Innovation Leadership Award has been consistently presented to outstanding professors from leading universities in the United States, recognizing their significant contributions to addressing global health challenges.

In 2024, the award honored Professor Quentin Eichbaum, Chairman of the Council on Education, American Society for Clinical Pathology and Director of the Vanderbilt University Center for Transfusion Medicine, and Professor Rajiv Chowdhury, Dean of the Department of Global Health, University of Florida, for their 20 years of leadership and development of global health curricula at many of the world's leading medical schools.

Previously, in 2023, the award was presented to Professor Brittany Seymour, Vice Dean of Harvard Dental School, in recognition of her important contributions to global oral health and her years of advocacy for putting oral health on the global health agenda.

In 2022, Professor Karin B. Ulstrup, Northwestern University, USA, was awarded this prize for her innovations in women's health and behavioral medicine.

In 2021, Professor Carolyn Audet, Director of the Vanderbilt University Center for Clinical Excellence, was awarded the award for her pioneering research in implementation science in global health.

Honoring leading experts in the field not only affirms the importance of innovation in healthcare, but also promotes the development of sustainable solutions to improve the health of vulnerable communities around the world.

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) is a Washington, DC-based organization that brings together nearly 200 universities and educational institutions around the world to work together to address global health challenges. Founded 35 years ago as the Consortium for Global Health Education, CUGH has grown to become a network of universities, research institutions, and international partners to promote innovation and collaboration in the field of global health, with the participation of leading universities in the world such as Harvard University, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Yale, Cornel, Duke, Columbia, Karolinska Institute, University of London, etc.

CUGH, which supports higher education institutions and partners to advance human health and protect the planet through education, research, service and advocacy, aims to promote the role of universities as a leading force in driving transformation and sustainable development in global health.
