The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just requested localities to closely monitor and proactively prevent African swine fever.
The Provincial People's Committee requests localities to focus on directing, organizing and implementing drastic, synchronous and effective measures to prevent and control African swine fever in accordance with the direction of the Central Government, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee as well as the directives and instructions of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Mobilize resources to completely handle outbreaks, if any, to prevent new outbreaks; destroy sick pigs, suspected sick pigs, dead pigs, proactively implement policies to support farmers suffering losses due to epidemics in accordance with regulations; promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle cases of buying, selling, transporting sick pigs, and dumping dead pigs, causing disease spread and environmental pollution.
Request the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to strengthen inspection, monitoring, and detection of outbreaks, and prevent new outbreaks from occurring; coordinate with localities to handle and destroy sick pigs, suspected sick pigs, and dead pigs; guide localities to proactively implement policies to support affected farmers. Direct the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to proactively monitor the epidemic situation closely, especially African swine fever; continue to review, guide, and organize vaccination against dangerous infectious diseases in pig herds.
Request the Provincial Police, Department of Industry and Trade, Provincial Market Management Department, and relevant units to coordinate with veterinary forces and traffic inspectors to handle cases of trading and transporting pigs and pig products of unknown origin, not yet quarantined...
According to the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), Some localities are hiding the epidemic, reporting the epidemic slowly, selling and slaughtering sick pigs, suspected pigs, and dumping dead pigs. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 576 outbreaks of African swine fever in 530 communes of 44 provinces and cities nationwide; the number of sick, dead and culled pigs is 24,218. Currently, African swine fever is present in 28 provinces and cities. The epidemic is most severe in Lang Son province (especially in Loc Binh district), Cao Bang (Trung Khanh), Dak Lak, Quang Binh, Son La, and Binh Phuoc.
According to the latest report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of early November 2023, the total pig herd in Hai Duong is estimated at 440,000. The proportion of pig farming in the form of industry and farms accounts for about 45%. The whole province has injected nearly 9.4 million doses of various vaccines, basically achieving the 2023 plan, including 270,450 doses of African swine fever vaccine.
