Northern fragrant rice number 7 is sticky, fragrant and rich in flavor.

Bac Thom No. 7 is a rice variety that has been associated with the people of Hong Khe commune (Binh Giang) for many years. According to the Hong Khe Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative, this rice variety can yield an average of 55-57 quintals/ha. The rice grows and develops well, tillers strongly, is quite resistant to lodging, has good rice quality, and fragrant, sticky rice.

When implementing the program "One Commune One Product" (OCOP), Hong Khe Agricultural Service Cooperative decided to choose Mr. Vu Phuong Mac's business household in Loi Khe village to participate with the product of Bac Thom No. 7 rice. On average, Mr. Mac's family cultivates 3-4 hectares per crop.

Mr. Mac has a lot of production experience and has invested in many types of machinery, applying mechanization to agricultural production.

Participating in the program "One Commune One Product", Mr. Mac has applied the process of producing high-quality rice. All stages from selecting varieties, production areas, fertilizers, pesticides to harvesting and preservation are carried out according to food safety procedures. In addition, with the support of the Hong Khe Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative, Mr. Mac has invested in packaging and product design. After being polished, Bac Thom No. 7 rice is bagged, vacuum-sealed and packed into boxes weighing 3 kg. These boxes all have traceability stamps. The rice in the boxes is sold at an average price of more than 20,000 VND/kg depending on market fluctuations.

The grains of fragrant Northern rice number 7 are long and slender. When cooked, they have a fragrant aroma, are sticky, and have a rich flavor. After cooling, the rice grains are still soft and sticky.

In 2022, Mr. Mac's Bac Thom No. 7 rice was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. After being recognized, Mr. Mac actively promoted and introduced Bac Thom No. 7 rice at many fairs and trade promotion programs.

“I want to contribute to creating agricultural products with the typical flavor of my homeland to markets near and far, so that more people will know about them. Currently, I am gradually introducing and selling Bac Thom No. 7 rice on e-commerce platforms," ​​said Mr. Mac.
