Joker and Lady Gaga in new movie

Part 2 "Joker: Folie À Deux" by director Todd Phillips has just revealed its trailer and immediately received great attention from the audience.

The film continues to revolve around the unfortunate clown Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) in Arkham asylum, after being arrested at the end of part 1. Arthur has now transformed his personality into Joker - an anti-social clown and indirectly opened a period of rampant crime and darkness in Gotham City.

In Arkham Asylum, Joker meets Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga). The two come together, opening a new chapter of chaos and danger for Gotham.

However, this is a toxic relationship, where one person constantly uses the other to achieve their own goals. The romantic dance scenes, the enchanting music like "La La Land" and the "folie à deux" motif are just a sweet prelude to the bitterness that comes.

Joker is a famous character in the DC Comics series, an enemy of Batman and the lover of Harley Quinn - who was his psychiatrist in Arkham. Possessing a huge fan base, the series has been adapted into movies many times, each version has a different cast and plot.

Notable names who have played Joker include Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Mark Hamill (voice)... In Todd Phillips' version, Joker is the main character played by Puerto Rican actor Joaquin Phoenix.

Part 1, titled "Joker", released in 2019, is considered one of the best films to exploit this character, with originality and depth. Having no social status and growing up with a mother who suffered from trauma, Arthur himself also suffers from mental illness, including uncontrollable laughter when anxious.

All of this gradually destroys Arthur and pushes him to the turning point of becoming the Joker. Joaquin Phoenix's convincing performance earned him an Oscar. The film also won the award for original score, and was nominated for 9 other categories at the 2020 awards, including best picture and best screenplay.

Besides the brilliance of Joaquin Phoenix, the movie "Joker" 2 also attracted attention with Lady Gaga, who has an impressive music career with 13 Grammy awards.

Thanks to her leading role in "A Star is Born" (2018), Lady Gaga was officially accepted by the audience as an actress, although she had been acting in small projects since 2014. The compositions in this film also brought her 2 wins at the Golden Globe Awards that same year.

In 2021, participating in "House of Gucci" - a film based on the real-life turmoil of the Gucci fashion family, Lady Gaga used "method acting" (a method of getting into character that makes the actor change their real-life lifestyle to match the character's circumstances) and more or less created controversy because of its extreme nature. However, overall, the talented singer is still quite anticipated on the big screen.

Before Lady Gaga, the character Harley Quinn became famous through the acting of "Australian rose" Margot Robbie in the movies "Bird of Preys" (2020) and "Suicide Squad" movies (2016, 2021).

"Joker: Folie à Deux" opens internationally and in Vietnam from October 4 this year. The film is rated R (no audience under 18 years old).
