On the afternoon of July 11, Vietnam Railways Corporation held a ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the tourist destination "Da Lat Railway Station".
The ceremony was witnessed by representatives of departments, agencies and branches of Lam Dong province, Da Lat City People's Committee and many tourists visiting this oldest and most beautiful railway station in Indochina.
At the announcement ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation, said that with the desire to turn Da Lat Station into a destination of culture, art, history and heritage, in recent years, along with the renovation and upgrading of the station, the Railway industry has invested in upgrading and developing transportation products on the Da Lat - Trai Mat route to form a complete service supply chain, creating tourism highlights such as: launching the "Train, flower road" movement, opening "Da Lat night journey"...
Thanks to that, in the first 6 months of 2024, the total number of visitors to Da Lat station for sightseeing and taking the train reached over 275 thousand people. Total revenue from tourism activities at Da Lat station reached over 11.4 billion VND.
According to Nguyen Trung Kien, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, Da Lat Railway Station is not only a unique architectural work of Da Lat city but also a place that leaves a special mark in the history of the Vietnam Railway industry. In 2001, Da Lat Railway Station was ranked as a national monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). In recent times, Da Lat Railway Station has actively put into operation the product "Da Lat Night Journey", bringing passengers new experiences, feeling the beauty of Da Lat city at night, contributing to diversifying services, developing tourism and night-time economy. Currently, Da Lat Railway Station is a famous tourist destination attracting visitors to visit, explore history and experience the railway train in Da Lat city.
The ceremony to announce the decision to recognize the tourist destination "Da Lat Railway Station" is an opportunity to effectively carry out communication, promotion and tourism promotion; at the same time, creating favorable conditions for domestic and foreign service businesses to research, learn about investment opportunities and cooperation at Da Lat Railway Station. Thereby, promoting tourism businesses to improve product quality associated with environmental landscape protection, creating different tourism products, attracting domestic and international tourists to Da Lat, Lam Dong.
In the coming time, Vietnam Railways Corporation will hire a consulting unit to develop a master plan for infrastructure investment to serve tourists at Da Lat Station with 12 items. Accordingly, it will invest in more carriages to run trains from Da Lat Station to Trai Mat Station and organize trains to welcome the sunrise and enjoy the view of Da Lat city... Next, the investor will develop a project to collect entrance fees for the "Da Lat Railway Station" tourist site and a service price plan to submit to competent authorities for approval. It is expected that this tourist site will implement the collection of entrance fees at the new price from October 1, 2024...
Da Lat Railway Station was built by the French in 1932 and completed in 1938. This unique ancient architectural work was inspired by the legendary Langbiang Mountain and the traditional Tay Nguyen communal house roof. This is the only railway station in the Central Highlands. Da Lat Railway Station is associated with the history of the formation and development of the "land of thousands of pine trees" city, considered the most beautiful ancient railway station in Vietnam and Indochina.
