Using fake car registration to defraud a loan of 600 million VND, Nguyen Ha Ninh in Kim Thanh received more than 15 years in prison.

On February 18, the People's Court of Hai Duong province held a first-instance trial of Nguyen Ha Ninh (born in 1986, residing in Tuan Viet commune, Kim Thanh, Hai Duong) for fraud and appropriation of property and use of fake documents of agencies and organizations.

According to the indictment, on February 9, 2022, Ninh mortgaged a Nissan Navara 34C-321.04 car at the bank to borrow VND 760 million. The bank managed the car registration and issued Ninh a mortgage receipt and handed over the car to Ninh for management and use.

By September 2022, because Ninh violated his obligation to pay principal and interest, the bank did not issue a new mortgage receipt to Ninh. After that, Ninh went online to find someone to fake the car registration for 3.5 million VND.

On March 6, 2023, due to needing money to pay off debts and expenses, Ninh brought the above car to meet Mr. CVV (in Dong Gia commune, Kim Thanh district) to borrow 600 million VND with a loan agreement for 2 months, interest rate of 1%/month.

Ninh left the car 34C – 321.04 with the car registration (fake), the car inspection certificate for Mr. V. After receiving the money, Ninh paid Mr. V. 36 million VND; Ninh used the remaining money to pay debts and expenses, did not pay the debt as agreed and cut off contact with Mr. V.

In May 2023, Mr. V. tried to sell car 34C-321.04 but discovered that the car registration was fake and was informed by Ninh's wife that the car was mortgaged at the bank. Mr. V. filed a complaint with the police.

Nguyen Ha Ninh was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison for fraud and appropriation of property; 3 years in prison for using fake documents of agencies and organizations. The total sentence Ninh must serve is 15 years and 6 months in prison.

In 2011, Ninh was imprisoned for theft of property.
