After nearly 40 hours of being buried by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake that devastated parts of Myanmar, rescue workers have pulled a man alive from the rubble of a collapsed hospital in the capital Nay Pyi Taw.
According to the rescue team, the three-story hospital building was severely damaged, with the first floor completely collapsing, burying many people. Rescuers used specialized equipment such as life detectors to locate victims with signs of life.
According to the latest statistics from the Myanmar military government, as of the end of March 29, the number of victims killed in this earthquake was at least 1,644 people, while 3,408 people were injured and 139 people were still missing.
Many countries and organizations around the world have urgently mobilized rescue forces to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake and continue efforts to find survivors after the earthquake that occurred in the early afternoon of March 28.
The British government on March 29 pledged £10 million (about $12.9 million) in humanitarian aid to Myanmar to help repair damage caused by the earthquake in the Southeast Asian country.
