On October 31, a representative of the People's Court of Thanh Mien district said that defendant Tran Duy Diep (born in 1988), residing in Ban Gian commune, Lap Thach district (Vinh Phuc) was sentenced to 8 months in prison for resisting a person on official duty.
Previously, at around 9:00 p.m. on August 24, on National Highway 38B, Diep drove car 34F-095.63 from Hung Yen to Thanh Mien town. When reaching km15+400 in Gia Coc village, Tu Cuong commune (Thanh Mien), he collided with motorbike 34B-426.66 driven by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1985) in Quang Minh commune (Gia Loc) who was traveling in the same direction ahead.
After the collision, Diep drove away from the scene but was discovered and stopped by Tu Cuong Commune Police. Later, while working with the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police), Diep used many insulting words towards the police. He also kicked the door of the police car and bit a police officer on the forearm.
