At the Mapping Modernities auction of Sotheyby's Hong Kong on December 14, the painting "Women wearing conical hats by the river" by famous artist Mai Trung Thu was sold for 1.57 million USD.

The painting “Women wearing conical hats by the river” by famous painter Mai Trung Thu has the second highest value in the history of Vietnamese painting auctions (after his painting “Portrait of Miss Phuong” which was sold for 3.1 million USD in April 2021).
This year, famous painter Mai Trung Thu entered the list of Vietnamese painters with million-dollar paintings for the third time.
