According to the new Law on Residence, people who are deprived of Vietnamese nationality are one of the cases that will have their temporary residence registration removed.
On November 13, 2020, at the 10th session of the 14th National Assembly, the Law on Residence 2020 was passed, effective from July 1, 2021.
The 2020 Law on Residence consists of 07 chapters and 38 articles, including a number of new, amended and supplemented contents compared to the 2006 Law on Residence (amended and supplemented in 2013).
Notable content includes the regulation of 08 cases of temporary residence registration being cancelled from July 1, 2021.
Specifically:
1. Death; there is a court decision declaring missing or dead;
2. There has been a decision to cancel temporary residence registration according to regulations;
3. Continuous absence from temporary residence for 06 months or more without registering temporary residence at another place of residence (current regulations stipulate absence from temporary residence registration for 06 months or more);
4. Has been given permission by a competent authority to renounce Vietnamese nationality, have Vietnamese nationality revoked, or have the decision to grant Vietnamese nationality revoked (new regulation);
5. Have been registered for permanent residence at the temporary residence;
6. People who have registered temporary residence at a rented, borrowed, or shared accommodation but have terminated the rental, borrowing, or shared accommodation without registering temporary residence at another accommodation (new regulation);
7. A person who has registered temporary residence at a legal place of residence but then the ownership of that place of residence has been transferred to another person, except in cases where the new owner agrees to allow him/her to continue living at that place of residence (new regulation);
8. Persons who register for temporary residence at a place of residence that has been demolished or confiscated by decision of a competent state agency or at a vehicle that has had its vehicle registration removed according to the provisions of law (new regulation).
