Highlights in socio-economic development in the period 2021-2023

According to the report presented at the 19th Session of the 17th Provincial People's Council on the results of implementing the socio-economic development plan and the activities of the Provincial People's Committee from the beginning of the 2021-2026 term to November 30, 2023, over the past 2 years, despite facing many challenges, under the leadership and direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the joint efforts and consensus of all levels, sectors, and the business community in the province, Hai Duong has well controlled the epidemic situation and recovered and developed the economy.

The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the 2021-2023 period is estimated to increase by an average of 8.58% per year. The economic structure has shifted in a positive direction. Hai Duong has been recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of building new rural areas. Some indicators are likely to exceed the set targets by the end of the term.

Many projects that have been started will be completed during the term, such as the East-West axis road, Ring Road I, Dong Viet bridge approach road, and the interchange connecting the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway...

Along with that, 6 industrial parks are being invested to complete infrastructure, 4 major traffic axes are being deployed and completed during the term. Many large projects are being researched by investors (Thanh Long lake project, Tan Hong golf course, industrial park development projects according to planning...). When completed, these projects will create breakthrough development for Hai Duong.

Since the beginning of the 2021-2026 term, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province has focused on directing the development of the cultural and social sectors. The province has been coordinating with Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces to complete the dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognition of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex as a world heritage site. Social security policies have been reviewed and improved to improve the lives of people in the province.

However, the report of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee also pointed out that the organization and operation of the People's Committees at all levels still revealed some limitations that need to be overcome. That is, the epidemic prevention work sometimes fell into a passive and confused state and some organizations and individuals allowed violations to occur. A number of programs, resolutions, projects, and plans to implement the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2020 - 2025 have not met requirements.
