Every year, around the end of February and the beginning of March, the green patches at the foot of Lao Than mountain suddenly glow with the bright pink color of wild peach blossoms.
Lao Than Mountain is 2860m high, located in Y Ty commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, and is known as the “cloud hunting paradise”. At the foot of the mountain - where nearly 80 households in Phin Ho village live, the locals here plant hundreds of wild peach trees.
Most of the peach trees are over 20 or 30 years old. Due to the cold and humid climate, the peach branches are covered with moss, so people call them moldy peach trees.
Not only does it have a mossy beauty, when blooming, the moldy peach blossoms also cause a stir because of the sweet beauty of each flower. The peach blossoms here have very large buds, blooming all over the branches with a brilliant dark pink color, creating a mesmerizing carpet of flowers.
Under the slightly chilly weather, blue sky and honey yellow sunshine, the peach blossoms bloom like a greeting to awaken spring. And this is also the perfect time to take a trip to start a new year.
Tour guide Le Thanh said that when the peach blossoms are in full bloom, many tourists register for Lao Than Trekking to see the flowers and hunt for clouds. Lao Than Palace is not too difficult to climb, so it is also a favorite choice for many female tourists. Many photographers also do not miss this once-a-year opportunity.
Although Tet Nguyen Dan has passed, in Lao Than, the bustling, stirring atmosphere still seems to linger, not wanting to leave, so that souls who still miss spring have a place to immerse themselves and enjoy.
