Bachelor of Arts Thu Uyen crowned Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023

Miss Ocean Vietnam2023 returns after a 6-year hiatus (season 1 was held in 2014, season 2 in 2017, and 2019 in the US). The finals are held early in the morning, replacing stage lights with natural light to save electricity and limit harm to nature.

After more than 3 hours of organization starting at 6am, Tran Thi Thu Uyen became the new Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023. She was born in 2000, is 1.74m tall with body measurements of 82-64-92cm. Thu Uyen graduated with a Bachelor's degree with honors in Tourism and Travel Services Management from Nam Can Tho University. The new beauty queen was awarded the Ocean Harmony crown, made of white gold with 6 360-degree rotating peaks, studded with more than 3,650 diamonds and 144 topazes.

After the top 5's question and answer session, the 3rd and 4th runner-up titles were announced. Because it was difficult to choose the highest position, the Organizing Committee added a question and answer session for the top 3. Miss Tran Thi Thu Uyen shared that during the Covid-19 pandemic, she used to be a volunteer. While doing charity work, an orphan shared her dreams and aspirations in life but had lung cancer. Believing that this situation stems from marine pollution, she hopes that everyone will have positive actions and attitudes to protect the environment. She hopes to become Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023 to spread positive messages. Thu Uyen then translated the answer into English and answered quite fluently and smoothly.

The first runner-up was awarded to Lam Kieu Anh, the second runner-up was Vu Duong Quynh Nhu, Vo Thi Tuyet Nhi, Thai Dao Truc Giang stopped at the third and fourth runner-up positions respectively.

Competing in the final round of Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023, the top 30 contestants went through the swimsuit, evening gown, presentation and question and answer rounds. During the opening round with the name calling of the top 30 contestants, Le Thi Thu Tra had an accident and dropped the microphone stand.

In the bikini competition, the top 30 contestants wore one-piece swimsuits with cross-necks and chiffon capes, confidently showing off their toned bodies and attractive, energetic demeanor. However, some contestants got their capes caught in the wind when they turned around.

After the bikini competition, the top 15 Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023 were revealed and entered the evening gown competition with gorgeous cut-out designs that accentuated the body's curves. Contestants Mai Hieu Ngan and Nguyen Thi Lan still confidently performed despite the sound loss problem.

The Top 10 were then announced, including: Le Thi Thu Tra, Tran Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Dang Nhu Quynh, Mai Hieu Ngan, Lam Kieu Anh, Thai Dao Truc Giang, Tran Thuy Vy, Vo Thi Tuyet Nhi, Vu Duong Quynh Nhu, Nguyen Thi Huynh Nhu.

In the presentation round, the top 10 finalists received the question:“Why are the issues of protecting the marine and ocean environment and climate change becoming urgent issues at the present time?”Contestant Lam Kieu Anh (from the US) was the only beauty to answer completely in English. Thai Dao Truc Giang was the only beauty to answer bilingually, received much support from the audience and was judged to have the smoothest answer.

After the presentation round, the top 5 were announced including: Tran Thi Thu Uyen, Lam Kieu Anh, Vo Thi Tuyet Nhi, Vu Duong Quynh Nhu, Thai Dao Truc Giang and entered the behavioral round with the common question: "Why do you deserve to be crowned Miss Ocean Vietnam 2023?

Tran Thi Thu Uyen and Thai Dao Truc Giang chose to answer bilingually, Lam Kieu Anh answered in English. Tran Thi Thu Uyen is confident that during her journey atMiss Ocean Vietnam 2023, she has tried, made an effort, is confident, and determined in every step. If she becomes Miss, she will spread a positive message about love, compassion, as well as a message about environmental protection and the image of a beautiful Vietnam. At the same time, Thu Uyen will donate a part of her prize to help disadvantaged people in society.

Held early in the morning, the organizers prepared umbrellas to protect guests and judges from the sun during the competition. During the behavioral round of the top 5, a contestant fainted because of standing in the sun for a long time.
