According to Ms. Le Thi The, President of the Trade Union of Meiko Towada Vietnam Co., Ltd., at the company, workers follow the 5S rule in production (sorting, arranging, cleaning, caring and being ready). Those who do well will be rewarded. The Trade Union and the company set up a weekly 5S inspection group to score the competition for each trade union group.

The company has 100% Japanese capital. With the careful style of the Japanese, workers at the company are regularly informed about labor safety. In addition to the propaganda on the loudspeakers of each production workshop, the company and the union regularly renew and change billboards and banners about labor safety to help workers raise awareness of self-protection during the production process. Workers use protective gear according to regulations, and there is a strict inspection team. The company's union regularly consults with the Board of Directors to organize for workers and laborers to improve their skills in identifying risks in their departments to proactively prevent them. Every month, specialized staff will measure the indicators of light, temperature, humidity, and dust once. If any parameters are found to be incorrect, they will be reported to the maintenance department for timely handling, ensuring a safe working environment for workers. The company also arranges many smoking areas outside the production area so that male workers have a safe smoking space.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa, a union member working in the company’s quality department, said: “Every year the union and the company organize medical examinations for us. The union’s Occupational Safety and Health Department regularly inspects and monitors meals, ensuring food safety and hygiene and quality, which helps us feel more secure.”

100% of union members and workers are trained in fire fighting measures. Signs and mini fire extinguishers are installed in visible and easy-to-use places. This equipment is inspected annually by the Labor Safety and Hygiene Department and reported for replacement if damaged. The fire pump system is used at least 10 minutes/week to ensure that the machinery operates properly in case of fire. The union and the company have established a fire prevention and fighting team and developed fire prevention and fighting plans to practice once a year.

At production sites, there are waste containers including: solid waste, hazardous waste and general waste. Hazardous chemicals are placed in waterproof warehouses, spill-proof trays and have measures to prevent spills and explosions.
