The "white-shirt warriors" of Tu Ky District Medical Center are always ready to donate blood to save patients.

The blood donation volunteer team of Tu Ky District Medical Center was established in 2012. One of the oldest and most active members is Ms. Nguyen Thi An, 34 years old, in Trung Son village, Tai Son commune.
For nearly 12 years, Ms. An has donated blood nearly 40 times. When she learned about the Blood Donation Volunteer Team, she immediately signed up. "I think the team's activities will bring a lot of meaning to the community, especially to pregnant women who need blood urgently and children in difficult circumstances. Many people have to pay a large amount of money for treatment, so donating blood will help them reduce some of the cost," Ms. An shared.

Spreading the meaning of the blood donation movement, Ms. An and many other members actively promoted it so that many people would know and participate. After a period of operation, the Blood Donation Volunteer Team has become a common home for those who regularly participate in voluntary blood donation.
Every time they donate blood, helping patients overcome "death's door", each member of the Blood Donation Volunteer Team feels proud and happy. They know that every drop of their blood has contributed to saving the lives of others, bringing hope and joy to patients and their families.
In addition to Ms. An, many members of the team have also donated blood dozens of times. Typical examples include Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Nguyen Thi Ly, Nguyen Thi Thuy, and Mr. Dang Van Hau. They are all doctors and nurses working at the District Medical Center. The team members work day and night, ready to donate blood to save lives.

Mr. Dang Van Hau, born in 1986, a nurse in the Department of Surgery from Van To commune, shared: "I remember most the time I helped a woman who lost blood due to postpartum hemorrhage. When the patient needed a blood transfusion, no one in the family could give her blood because it was not the same blood type." Thanks to Mr. Hau's timely blood donation, the woman was given timely emergency care and her health gradually stabilized.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, a doctor from the Department of Reproductive Health Care and Obstetrics, Head of the Blood Donation Volunteer Team of the District Medical Center, said that after 12 years of establishment, the team now has more than 100 members, of which 85% are doctors and nurses in the center, the rest are youth union members from communes in the area. Mr. Cong added: "Since its establishment, we have not kept specific statistics on the number of patients saved by blood donation, but every year there are several cases. There are cases that have survived the "near-death" crisis thanks to timely blood donations."

Mr. Cong recounted the case of Ms. Tran Thi Lua (born in 1987, from Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong) whose life was saved thanks to donated blood. The patient had to undergo a cesarean section to remove a fetus suspected of amniotic fluid embolism, and had to be resuscitated and have her uterus removed. Thanks to the timely blood donation from the volunteer team, Ms. Lua overcame the critical stage.

Doctor Pham Van Dien, Director of Tu Ky District Medical Center, assessed that the Blood Donation Volunteer Team is very active in donating blood to save lives and in propagating and mobilizing people to participate. Thanks to the blood units provided by the team, the District Medical Center has promptly treated many people, especially pregnant women. The District Medical Center appreciates their noble deeds in many forms such as emulation, staff evaluation and cash support. Although the support is not large in material terms, it is very meaningful in spirit. They are typical examples of the spirit of serving the community, "a good doctor is like a mother".
