President and First Lady attend the art program "Spring Homeland 2024"

On the evening of February 2, the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the year of the Cat, on the eve of the Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024, in front of the Reunification Hall, Ho Chi Minh City, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife attended the special art program "Spring in the homeland 2024."

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front, President Vo Van Thuong delivered a speech wishing overseas Vietnamese around the world a happy new year and beating the drum to open the spring festival.

Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; leaders and former leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and some localities also attended.

In particular, the event also had the participation of many overseas Vietnamese from all over the world returning home to celebrate Tet, enjoy spring and attend the program.

Homeland Spring is a large-scale event, held for many years, attracting the participation of a large number of overseas Vietnamese from all over the world returning to their homeland to celebrate Tet, and is eagerly awaited by the overseas Vietnamese community every time Tet comes and spring comes. The event aims to demonstrate the care, responsibility, and affection of the Party and State towards overseas Vietnamese, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the overseas Vietnamese community and the homeland and the country.

The program "Spring Homeland 2024" took place on February 1-2, jointly organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in a joyful atmosphere welcoming the New Year, celebrating the Party, celebrating spring, and celebrating the country's important achievements.

The program carries a very meaningful message: Ho Chi Minh City - a heroic, dynamic, creative city, always a pioneer in fighting, building and developing.

Within the framework of "Homeland Spring 2024", on the morning of February 2, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, together with overseas Vietnamese and city residents, offered flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh on Nguyen Hue Street; offered incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang, and performed the traditional carp releasing ritual on the day of Ong Cong, Ong Tao Festival at the historic Nha Rong Wharf.

The special art program “Spring in the homeland 2024” with the theme “Ho Chi Minh City - Continuing the shining heroic epic” was elaborately staged, an important highlight in the series of activities of “Spring in the homeland 2024”. This is not only a festival of overseas Vietnamese but also of the people of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country, demonstrating the great strength of national unity.

Speaking at the program, respectfully sending to all distinguished guests - beloved children of the motherland Vietnam who are living, working and studying abroad his warm greetings, warm feelings and best wishes for the new year, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that Vietnamese people abroad, regardless of generation, wherever they are, as children of Lac - Hong, are "always a part of flesh and blood, an inseparable part of the Fatherland, always present in the hearts and feelings of the country and people of Vietnam."

Recalling impressions from meetings with overseas Vietnamese during his overseas business trips last year, the President shared his feelings about the aspirations and will to rise up, the desire and longing to join hands to contribute to the development of the country of overseas Vietnamese.

The President noted that despite living far from the Fatherland, our people always nurture and promote patriotism, national pride, preserve cultural traditions, and look back to their roots, staying attached to their families, homelands, and country. Many people have made spiritual, material, and even blood contributions to the cause of national liberation, national reunification, construction, and defense of our beloved Vietnam.

Many overseas Vietnamese have been successful and famous in many fields, making positive contributions to the host country, being an important bridge between Vietnam and the world, an important factor in people's diplomacy, actively preserving and spreading national cultural values, building the image of Vietnam abroad, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam in the international arena.

Delighted with the achievements that overseas Vietnamese have made, the President stated that the Party and State always sincerely hope that our compatriots abroad will promote their potential, strengths, and creativity, reap many successes, have a stable life, have an increasingly solid legal, economic, and political status, and integrate deeply into the host society.

"The success of each Vietnamese person abroad always brings joy and pride to the Vietnamese Fatherland," the President said, expressing his wish that young overseas Vietnamese people will always stay attached to their homeland, turn towards Vietnam, speak Vietnamese, be proud of their Vietnamese origin and the nation's fine traditional values.

"I believe that the Vietnamese spirit and Vietnamese values ​​will make your identity richer and more attractive in the multicultural community. And wherever you are, in whatever conditions, at whatever age, at whatever nationality, as a person of Vietnamese blood, as a patriotic Vietnamese, you can contribute to the Fatherland in your own way. Because love for the Fatherland is a simple, close and natural thing, a natural and legitimate need and desire," the President shared.

The President pointed out that as a country that has experienced the pain of war, the country was divided, the people were divided, but with the nation's tradition of peace, humanity, and justice, Vietnam has become a model of post-war reconciliation, building good relationships with other countries, including former enemies.

“Therefore, we Vietnamese people share the same origin, the same “Descendants of the Dragon and Grandchildren of the Fairy”, so we must together overcome the remaining prejudices and disagreements to join hands in building a spirit of openness, respect, sympathy, and mutual trust, and together achieve national harmony for the bright future of the country, of the people and of our descendants,” the President expressed his wish.

At the program, President Vo Van Thuong called on overseas Vietnamese: "Let's unite, firmly believe in the nation's goals, join hands to build the country's foundation, potential, position and prestige, so that our beloved Vietnam can steadily develop, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers."
