When girlhood… is no longer green/And the fields are left behind.

Where did you leave your girlhood?
Is it in the rainy fields
Footprints on the stubble
The old wind blows forever
Eyes worn out waiting.

I took my girl across the river
The boat drifted silently, carrying mother's words
The river water is salty before reaching the sea.
Mother stood on the shore, eyes watching.

Time is an anchor
Hook your worries on your mother's hair
Old footprints, scratches still clearly show the shape of stubble
I rub it in, recognizing the months and years
When girlhood… is no longer green
And the fields left behind.
