The National Hydrometeorological Agency warns that in the coming time, thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, and hail will continue to occur frequently, especially in the North, Central Highlands, and South.
Warning: Thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, and hail will continue to occur frequently in the coming time.
According to the warning of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (General Department of Hydro-Meteorology), from now until August 10, dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and hail will continue to appear nationwide, which can greatly affect production and people's activities.
Also during the above period, the tropical convergence zone tends to be more active and can cause bad weather (typically thunderstorms, tornadoes, big waves) in the East Sea area.
Specifically, expert Tran Thi Chuc - Deputy Head of Climate Forecast Department (National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting) said that during this time, the average temperature in areas nationwide is generally higher than the average of many years by about 0.5 degrees Celsius; in some places it is higher.
“The current heat wave is forecast to last until July 14, after which the heat wave will narrow its scope and temporarily end. Around the end of July to the beginning of August, heat waves are likely to reappear in the North and Central regions,” Ms. Chuc emphasized.
Expert Tran Thi Chuc recommends that localities and people need to be on guard against the risk of fire and explosion in residential and production areas due to the high demand for electricity and the high risk of forest fires, especially in the Central region.
In hot conditions, total rainfall in some places in the Northwest and Viet Bac mountainous regions is forecast to be 5-15% lower than the average of many years in the same period. Other places will have total rainfall higher than the average of many years in the same period, generally from 15-30%; in particular, in the North Central and Central Central regions, total rainfall will be 30-60% higher than the average of many years in the same period.
With the above weather patterns, the National Hydrometeorological Agency warns that in the coming time, thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, and hail will continue to occur frequently, especially in the North, Central Highlands, and South. The North and North Central regions are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, from July 18 to 25.
“In the first half of July, many places in the mountainous areas of the North and North Central regions had very heavy rain, high soil humidity, so it is necessary to be on guard against the risk of landslides and flash floods in the days when rain is forecast in the coming time in the above-mentioned areas,” Ms. Chuc noted.
According to Ms. Chuc, in the second half of July and early August, there are forecasts of about 2-3 tropical depressions/storms operating in the East Sea. Of which, around July 15-20, there is a possibility of disturbances appearing in the tropical convergence zone and developing into tropical depressions/storms in the East Sea.
“We need to be on guard against strong winds and big waves affecting fishermen’s maritime and fishing activities,” Ms. Chuc advised.
