Grid renovation to remove violations

No more living under high voltage power lines

The 35kV Ninh Giang Town branch line, Highway 375E8.7, was built in 1969. The section from pole 4 to pole 9 passes through the land belonging to the Northern Residential and Commercial Service Area project. The pole has been used for a long time, so the concrete at many locations at the base and body of the pole has peeled off, exposing the steel reinforcement. The approximately 303 m long conductor is often locally overloaded.

In 2024, Ninh Giang Power Company will coordinate with local authorities to develop a plan to renovate and move this 35kV line to a new location along the sidewalk of Ninh Tinh Street, eliminating violations at a cost of VND900 million. "With the coordination of local authorities, the unit has developed a plan to move the line. Thereby, contributing to reducing 21 violations of the power grid safety corridor, both ensuring the safety of households living under the line and helping to ensure the safety of the power grid system," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Deputy Director of Ninh Giang Power Company.

The 35kV line, Route 371 E8.15, through Quan Goi area, Vinh Hung commune (Binh Giang) was built and put into operation in 1996. 36 households have structures located within the power grid safety corridor, of which 4 households have structures that do not meet the conditions for existence. Some structures are only about 1 meter away from the 35kV line, which is very dangerous. A few years ago, someone had an electrical accident at their own structure due to violating the safety distance.

In 2024, Cam Giang Power Company plans to bury this line underground through a densely populated area with a total cost of about 2.5 billion VND. The project's completion will contribute to eliminating all violations of the power grid safety corridor in the area under the management of Cam Giang Power Company.

Reform to remove

According to Hai Duong Power One Member Co., Ltd., in 2024, the unit eliminated 8 points of particularly serious violations of the power grid safety corridor, of which 4 points were managed by Cam Giang Power Company and 4 points were on 2 high-voltage lines in the area managed by Kinh Mon Power Company.

The province currently has 45 violations of the power grid safety corridor. Tu Ky is the locality with the most violations in the province with 29. The main cause of the violations is that the local government did not take into account the power grid safety corridor when allocating residential land to people.

To ensure the safety of people living under high-voltage power lines, Hai Duong Power Company Limited annually organizes propaganda for households, and requires households to sign a commitment not to create illegal constructions, not to cause accidents and grid incidents. The unit regularly includes in its plan projects to renovate and repair high-voltage power lines that violate the grid safety corridor to ensure the lives of people and the safety of the grid system.

“In 2025 and the following years, we will continue to carry out projects to renovate and repair high-voltage lines with violations. The unit regularly inspects the power grid system, promptly detects and handles violations, and prevents new violations from arising,” added Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Deputy Director of Ninh Giang Electricity.

Along with that, Hai Duong Electricity One Member Co., Ltd. directed the Electricity of districts, towns and cities to step up propaganda to raise awareness among people and the community about the dangers, as well as the damages that can occur when violating the safety corridor of high-voltage power grids.

Protecting the safety of the power grid corridor is an important task, because power line failures, especially high-voltage lines, can cause widespread power outages, causing great damage to customers. The unit strengthens coordination with local authorities to regularly inspect, detect and promptly handle violations to ensure the lives and property of people and the safety of the power grid system.
