Units proactively check and review labor safety and fire prevention.

Ms. Chu Thi Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor Safety (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) said that in the first 6 months of 2023, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs organized key inspections and examinations on the enforcement of labor safety and hygiene laws for 33 units, of which 4 units were administratively sanctioned, with a fine of 518 million VND.

The country has carried out about 27,000 inspections, checks and self-inspections. Of these, nearly 5,000 enterprises were inspected by competent authorities. The inspections and checks focused on areas with high risks of occupational accidents and diseases. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has issued three documents directing and guiding trade unions at all levels to propagate and raise awareness among officials, union members, workers and employees. On the occasion of the Action Month, trade unions at all levels visited, encouraged and presented gifts to more than 31,750 victims and their families of work-related accidents.

During the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health, trade unions at all levels launched emulation movements on occupational safety and health with 1,348,950 participants. The result was 89,755 initiatives to improve working conditions and reduce occupational accidents and diseases.

At the conference, the Department of Labor Safety proposed 4 topics for 2024 for members to comment on. The topics include: Topic 1 on ensuring occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and in the supply chain. Topic 2 on promoting activities to raise awareness of occupational safety and hygiene and reduce stress at work. Topic 3 on promoting the provision and use of personal protective equipment and preventing accidents and falls at work. Topic 4 on proactively applying science and technology in occupational safety and hygiene in preventing occupational accidents and diseases.

From reality, the majority of delegates proposed choosing topic 1 on ensuring safety and hygiene at work and in the supply chain.

Regarding the time of organization, the launching ceremony of the 2024 Occupational Safety and Health Action Month is expected to be held on April 26, 2024. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will coordinate to choose a specific location.
