Singer Huong Tram sent a complaint to the authorities requesting verification and handling of news sites and social networks that reported false, distorted, slanderous, and insulting information about her reputation, honor, and dignity.
The complaint was sent by singer Huong Tram to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City and the Investigation Police Agency, Thu Duc City Police (Ho Chi Minh City) on May 23.
Attached is a copy of the evidence recording information on websites and social media accounts posting articles slandering and insulting the honor and dignity of the whistleblower.
In the complaint, Ms. Pham Thi Huong Tram (aka singer Huong Tram) said that recently, the media and social networks have been spreading dense information and photos of her with two children.
The images were cropped and titled for news reports saying artist Huong Tram was "pregnant", "gave birth to twins", "gave birth to a tycoon", "gave birth in America"...
"The above incident attracted a huge number of viewers and followers, along with thousands of negative comments, defamation, insults, and offenses against me and my family members, and until now there are still no signs of stopping with increasing frequency," the singer wrote.
Thu Duc City Police have received a complaint from singer Huong Tram.
According to the 9X singer, all of that "creates a viral effect, the number of people interested in the incident continuously increases, leading to false information... not only stopping at being a defamatory topic for a minority group but also spreading into an offensive topic for millions of people".
In the complaint, Huong Tram said she was extremely confused and worried when there was a lot of false information on the Internet, slandering and seriously insulting her honor.
Along with that, negative, defamatory, and insulting words, images, videos, articles, and comments are still flooding the Internet and are becoming more frequent.
The artist said "the above information is not only untrue but also slanderous and seriously insults my honor and dignity."
"As an artist myself, this incident has caused many people to gossip and receive false information in a negative direction about my personal life, honor, and public image. Many customers have canceled their cooperation in using my services, image, and brand representation," the petition stated.
The singer from Nghe An said that "those electronic newspapers and social network accounts have taken advantage of freedom of speech and democratic freedom" to post false information, slander, and insult her honor and dignity.
She wrote a petition to the authorities requesting verification and legal action against the act of using electronic information pages and social networks to post false, distorted, slanderous information, and insult the reputation of the organization, her honor and dignity.
On May 23, singer Huong Tram, her lawyer and manager went to the Thu Duc City Police Investigation Agency to file a complaint. The agency accepted the complaint in accordance with the law and proceeded with the next steps.
