During their hiatus, BTS still managed to set more than one record on Billboard's global chart with their new song "Take Two"!
BTS has become the first group in the history of the Global 200 to have a song reach No. 1 on its debut every year.
Billboard has officially announced that BTS's new digital single "Take Two" has debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US - two charts that measure the global popularity of music products.
These charts are based on streaming and music purchase data collected in more than 200 territories around the world. Global Excl. US only includes results from countries and territories outside the United States.
With this achievement, BTS has become the first group in the history of the Global 200 to have a song reach No. 1 position right from its debut every year since Billboard first published this chart.
Additionally, the only artist to reach No. 1 every year is Mariah Carey with her legendary hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which returns to the top of the U.S. charts every holiday season. The group is also the only artist to reach No. 1 on the Global Excl. every year.
Additionally, BTS continues to extend their own record as the artist with the most number-one songs on the Global 200. “Take Two” is the seventh song to reach the top of the chart following the hits: “Dynamite,” “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat), ” “Life Goes On,” “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” and “My Universe.”
For the overall chart representing the tastes of the American people, the fan appreciation song of the HYBE Entertainment boys has successfully entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 48 in the first week. Thus, BTS has maintained their presence on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 7 consecutive years (2017 - 2023). This achievement can be considered unprecedented, proving the class and influence of the "Korean national treasure".
At the same time, the song also holds the number 1 spot on the Spotify Global Chart, earning 7,279,978 streams on the first day of its release on the world's largest music platform. This is BTS' second song to "land" at the top of this chart after "Dynamite".
The single “Take Two” was released daily on June 9 with the participation of all 7 members, as a gift to fans on the occasion of the 10-year journey of ups and downs, since the group debuted in June 2013. The song aims to express gratitude for ARMY’s love for the group and the desire to continue to stand side by side in the future.
